Avoiding Spam Comments and Work-Life Balance

Hi, this is Marilee, and this is week 3 of my 6-week blogging challenge.

Last week, I was looking for different plugins to put on my site and I found one! If you have a site like mine with a lot of comments, you may also get spam comments. I read a lot of great things about Akismet and they filter out all the spam.

My challenge this week is my work-life balance. I work all day, and When I come home, the last thing I want to do is sit at my computer. I’d rather spend time with my loved ones. I’m trying to figure out a way to have my personal life and work on my blog at the same time.

Try Time Blocking

My tip is time blocking. I saw a video about setting aside a certain amount of time to do what you need to do. What I’m going to do is come home from work, and then set aside 20 minutes of doing my blog.

That way, the rest of the time is my personal time, and I can do what I want without feeling bad for putting off my project. If you have that set time every day, it becomes a habit that you won’t dread.

A Touching Story

Outside that challenge, I’ve been looking at some of the submissions that I’ve gotten, and it reminds me why I got into this in the first place. I read a story this week that really touched me, about a guy that was speaking about a kid that he hated when growing up.

He talked about how he called him names, and it turned out that it was really about himself. It makes me sad, but so many people have gone through the same thing where they are being hard on themselves.
